day 1

Baroque Sicily

Welcome to Baroque Sicily, a combination of imposing churches, strikingly beautiful buildings and majestic skylines offering a broad spectrum of colours, from the pink gold of limestone to the silvery black of lava flows. A journey on the road in a land that knows how to welcome you and how to amaze you.

day 2

Ortigia market: an authentic insight into Sicilian life

You are in the heart of one of the most beautiful markets in Italy: the Ortigia market, a riot of colourful stalls of fruit, vegetables, fresh fish and special spices, in the beautiful setting of the historic centre of Syracuse. You will discover the best of regional delights between one tasting and another and a light lunch in a characteristic market place, where between a story characterised by the market stall owners selling their products; and the locals weighed down with their groceries, you will discover the history of this ancient city and will almost certainly fall in love with it.

day 3

Ragusa and Modica: two pearls of Sicilian Baroque

Your experience continues with the scenic Val di Noto and the two pearls of Sicilian Baroque: Ragusa and Modica. Walk their typical streets, visit the most important attractions, enjoy breath-taking views and you will be fascinated by their uniqueness.

Ragusa is a real open-air museum characterized by the presence of beautiful churches and aristocratic buildings but above all by 18 UNESCO World Heritage monuments.

Modica, on the other hand, resembles a stone crib with a baroque appearance, with evocative alleys rich in humble small houses, artisan workshops, ancient buildings and churches including the Cathedral of San Giorgio with its beautiful staircase.

This town is also famous for the famous IGP chocolate of Modica; then amaze your taste buds with the wonderful king of chocolate in its various flavours and formats. This chocolate is unique, produced using an ancient recipe of Aztec origin.

day 4

Day off

A day at your disposal to relax in places like the beach of San Lorenzo a few steps from the Vendicari Reserve, a very fascinating stretch of coastline characterized by large sandy expanses and small inlets. The fine and clear sand, along with the turquoise and crystalline sea with gently sloping seabed, make it the ideal place to spend a quiet day at the sea full of fun and sunbathing.

As an alternative, you could set off to explore new and exciting experiences, such as fishing in Syracuse: a day on board a typical motorboat from where you can discover the beauty of one of the most beautiful stretches of sea in the Mediterranean Sea; feel like a true Sicilian fisherman and in between chatter and stories, whilst sipping an aperitif with a view, learn some secrets and fishing techniques from real professionals.

In addition to fishing, there will be stops for a refreshing swim, before slowly returning to the marina, with the last stop inside the bay.

day 5

Etna and its flavours

An exciting experience on Etna, the largest volcano in Europe and one of the most active in the world, whose slopes are rich with vineyards, olive groves, pistachios, hazelnuts and orchards, that are the home to unique and excellent products.

Admire the ancient “sciàres” (solidified lava), the extinct craters, woods or caves made from lava.

Then you get to the tastiest part of the day; a visit to a wine cellar, where immersed in vineyards with a breath-taking view, you can taste the typical wines of Etna and find out how and where they are produced. These wines with a special aroma, mainly due to the very fertile volcanic soil, will be accompanied by many Sicilian specialties, seasonal vegetables and fruits, typical desserts and espresso coffee.

day 6

Taormina: the “Pearl of the Ionian Sea”… see you at the next experience

Taormina is an elegant natural terrace overlooking the Ionian Sea, where beauty is at home, not only for its viewpoints where you can spoil your eyes with the infinite beauty of these places, but also for its history and its wonders. One of them is the famous Greek Theatre with its breath-taking panorama and Etna as a backdrop.

Not to be missed are also the Roman “Naumachie”, the fifteenth-century Palazzo Corvaja, the splendid gardens of the Villa Comunale; the delightful Piazza IX Aprile, known for the incredible view from its balcony and the Cathedral of San Nicola with its beautiful baroque fountain. And while strolling along the lively Corso Umberto I, you will find many shops and workshops with handmade products to take back with you.
