day 1

Welcome to Florence: the city of fashion

Did you know that Florence and fashion are inextricably linked by a thread whose plot consists of stories, culture, traditions, famous characters and elegance?

Your experience begins in the city where the famous Pitti Immagine event dedicated to the world of fashion and Italian haute couture was born thanks to the first fashion show organized in 1951 by a pioneer of the sector Giorgini, who was soon followed by other well-known Florentine designers such as Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Enrico Coveri and Roberto Cavalli, who rendered Made in Italy fashion famous all over the world.

During the day you will be accompanied to discover the interesting Florentine fashion museums: the Costume Gallery of Palazzo Pitti, the Ferragamo Museum and the Gucci Garden.

In the splendid Palazzo Pitti you will visit the most important museum in Italy on the History of Fashion, where among the creations of the most famous designers of the 20th century (Missoni, Versace, Armani, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent and many others), you will admire over 6000 outfits including ancient clothes, high fashion and ready-to-wear clothes, uniforms, accessories and stage costumes.

Then head to the Ferragamo Museum in Via dè Tornabuoi, the street of luxury boutiques in Florence, to see the collection of wooden shoes and shapes created by the “shoemaker of dreams” for Hollywood celebrities, princes and princesses.

As a worthy end to your experience you will get to visit the Gucci Garden, a “concept place” immersed in the evocative scenery of a Renaissance building in Piazza della Signoria, where thanks to its various themed rooms you will discover historical advertising campaigns, traditional clothing, scarves, bags and more recent collections, as well as various objects, videos and memories of the maison founded by Guccio Gucci.

day 2

Enjoy shopping with a personal shopper

It is true that Florence is one of the most beautiful and visited cities in the world; but if you look beyond the fame that precedes it and beyond the wonders that have earned it the name of “Cradle of the Renaissance”, you will discover a cosmopolitan, lively, modern and above-all fashionable city.

In the company of a professional personal shopper, you will take a fun stroll through the most luxurious shopping streets of the city such as Via dè Tornabuoni and Via della Vigna, where amongst delicious restaurants and incredible boutiques of the most desired brands in the world, you can look for the perfect purchase to renew your outfit or home furnishings.

From clothing to shoes, from jewellery and watches to leather goods; through perfumeries, designer shops, fashion and vintage furniture, antiques and craft shops… you will be spoilt for choice on your shopping trip!

When you start to get peckish, you can choose to stop off and enjoy some dishes prepared by young chefs or stop off at a historic Florentine gastronomy for a delicious truffle sandwich and a glass of bubbles.

day 3

Discovering crafts and street art: art beyond art

A day dedicated to the other soul of Florence, one steeped in tradition and ancient craftsmanship; the suggestive and passionate side that is capable of unleashing creativity, quality and originality from every alley: the Oltrarno district where for centuries crafts have been made for rulers, gentlemen and noblewomen.

Starting from the lively Piazza Santo Spirito, you can browse the alleyways, coffee bars and the historic artisan workshops where local artisans continue to practice their crafts with passion, with tools and refined techniques handed down from generation to generation.

Along the way you will get to visit several workshops where you will meet expert goldsmiths who model and combine precious materials to create unique jewels, skilled silversmiths who chisel silver by hand, mosaicists who create coloured tiles for their work starting from working hard stones, artisans expert in working leather and wood carving, ceramics and colourful marbled paper.

Where the smell of glue and paints linger in the air, you will get to know a side of Florence shop by shop!

In addition to artisan art, you will have the joy of losing yourself in the beautiful historic city centre declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, in search of the most beautiful works of local street art, including the famous street signs by Clet Abraham, the famous Bulb portraits with their characteristic underwater backdrop and diving masks and the mega murals of the Neapolitan artist Jorit that portray Nelson Mandela and Antonio Gramsci, just to name a few.

day 4

The Art of Florentine Perfumery

Did you know that in the past Florence earned the nickname of the capital of perfumes and that there are still pharmacies and perfumeries in the city that were founded back in 1300?

Get ready to live another interesting experience in the heart of the historic centre, this time in search of ancient pharmacies, perfumeries, herbalists and drugstores that tell the story of the noble art of Florentine perfumery created using aromas, fragrances, essential oils, creativity, proportions and an excellent smell.

Between one stop and the next you will discover how the various components of a perfume are selected, processed and mixed and you will have the chance to buy truly unique products made using traditional methods, before visiting the district of Santa Maria Novella to visit the prestigious Perfume-Pharmaceutical Workshop of Santa Maria Novella, the oldest pharmacy in Europe, as well as one of the oldest in the world.

Once you cross the threshold you will enter a magical and fascinating place with decor and furnishings from another age, known for the production of soaps, liqueurs, perfumes, cosmetics, herbal and food specialties still made with the ancient artisan techniques of the Dominican friars who founded it in the thirteenth century.

Then you will take a short walk to discover the enchanting Boboli Garden, one of the first examples of an Italian garden that was a source of inspiration for many European courts of the time; a real open-air museum with statues, large fountains and caves including the beautiful Buontalenti Cave.

At the end of the day to make sure your taste buds are equally as satisfied, you will have the option of enjoying a steak cooked to perfection and excellent Tuscan wine in a typical Florentine tavern where conviviality is combined with simple and tasty dishes based on traditional local cuisine.

day 5

Roman Holidays

The time has come to leave Florence for Rome, a city that year after year attracts millions of visitors who are enchanted by the endless wonders that city’s streets and beautiful squares have to offer.

This beauty has certainly not gone unnoticed by those involved in the film industry, who have chosen to set the scenes of numerous films in those streets and squares. Remember the beautiful Audrey Hepburn with Gregory Peck riding a Vespa around the capital in the movie Roman Holiday?

You too will have the chance to take a spin on an iconic Vespa Piaggio in the company of an expert pilot/guide, between chatter and laughter, you will explore the historic centre of Capitoline UNESCO World Heritage, in search of the most beautiful locations chosen by Hollywood directors and other film producers, from the 1950s to the present day, retracing the plots of the films and iconic moments that happened on the various sets.

Just like in “Roman Holiday” you will discover another face of Rome: from Via Margutta 51 to the Trevi Fountain, from the Staircase of Trinity of the Mountains to the Pantheon and again to the Mouth of Truth… you will have the impression of reliving those unforgettable films as the main star!

Finally, after a refreshing coffee break in one of the most elegant cafés in Via Veneto, the centre of the social life of the 50s and 60s, made famous by the well-known director Federico Fellini in the film “La dolce vita”, you can opt for an exclusive gourmet dinner in a real pillar of Roman and international gastronomy with a unique view of the “Eternal City”.

day 6

The Vatican Museums

This day is dedicated to the discovery of the beautiful art collection of the Catholic Church and one of the most beautiful museum complexes in the world: the Vatican Museums.

You will be accompanied to the enchanting Vatican Gardens among fountains, works of art, monuments and rare botanical species, with the splendid Saint Peter’s Basilica as a backdrop.

You will then move on to the large La Pigna Courtyard, a huge open space adjacent to the corridors and halls of the museum where you can admire ancient sculptures such as the large bronze pine cone from which the courtyard takes its name; and modern sculptures such as the mysterious “Sphere” by the famous sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro.

Captured by the beauty of these places, you will finally enter the Vatican Museums where you will follow a route that crosses the splendid Gallery of Geographical Maps, the Gallery of Tapestry, the Gallery of Candelabra and the famous rooms decorated by Raphael that were part of the papal apartments; you will then be left speechless by the beauty of one of the greatest masterpieces of human history: the magnificent Sistine Chapel.

day 7

It will be the perfect opportunity to see some of the most lively and beautiful places in Rome and to browse the sparkling windows of its most famous shopping streets, such as Via dei Condotti where the ateliers and boutiques of the most prestigious Made in Italy brands are located.

When it’s time for a rest, you can sip on a drink in the charming rooms of one of the city’s historic bars, one of the few that is able to transmit the charm of Rome in the 50s; or on its beautiful terrace overlooking the domes of Piazza del Popolo and Trinità dei Monti.
